Monosof Dermalon Monofilament Nylon Suture
MONOSOFTM~DERMALONTM monofilament nylon sutures are inert, nonabsorbables sterile surgical sutures composed of the long-chain aliphatic polymers Nylon 6 and Nylon 6.6. The advanced extrusion process of the nylon molecule gives the suture:
-
Uniform diameter
-
Maximum flexibility of the strand
-
Excellent security with snug and
-
flattened knots
-
Minimal memory
-
Excellent and consistent knotting strength
MONOSOFTM~DERMALON monofilament nylon sutures are indicated for use in general soft tissue approximation and/or ligation, including use in cardiovascular, ophthalmic and neurological surgery. Due to the gradual loss of tensile strength which may occur over prolonged periods in vivo, nylon sutures should not be used where permanent retention
of tensile strength is required.
MONOSOFTM~DERMALON monofilament nylon sutures elicit a minimal acute inflammatory reaction in tissue, which is followed by gradual encapsulation of the suture by fibrous connective tissue. As with any nylon suture, though not absorbed, progressive hydrolysis of the suture in-vivo may result in gradual loss of its tensile strength over time. Ethylene oxide or gamma irradiation.
MONOSOFTM~DERMALON monofilament nylon sutures are available either undyed (clear) or dyed (black with Logwood extract or blue with FD&C No. 2 (DERMALONTM only), in sizes 2 (5 metric) through 11-0 (0.1 metric). The sutures are supplied sterile, in pre-cut lengths, non-needled or affixed to needles using both permanent and removable needle attachment techniques; in one, two, and three dozen box quantities.
